Assam is reported to have highest prevalence of trafficking of women and children for commercial sexual exploitation. The UN Voluntary Trust Fund (UNVTF) for Victims of Trafficking in Persons provides essential humanitarian, legal and financial aid to victims of trafficking in persons through various channels and networks. Under this program, with a victim-centered approach, GOLD has been successful in providing financial aid, basic amenities, legal assistance, medical aid and other essential services directly to the beneficiaries, i.e., the survivors of human trafficking. The trafficked survivors have also received vocational training, rehabilitation and residential care under this project.
