About Us

Global Organisation for Life Development (GOLD) is a not-for-profit voluntary organization which was evolved to serve the under privileged and down trodden sections of the society. The organization was founded in the year 1998. Our main mission is to work on and create an equitable society where people survive peacefully under protection and create a safer place for development of children for their better future.

GOLD is located in the beautiful city of Guwahati with it’s headquarter located at Pub-Sarania. The organization is legally registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with registration number RS/KAM/240/H/244 of 1998-99. GOLD has tried to establish good rapport with the community and the local authorities for successful implementation of its activities. The organisation conducts its activities not only within Assam but also in different other states including both urban and rural areas for the service of people and welfare of the society on universal basis.

Our Work

The organization at present has 200 members and some of the current activities are as follows-
  • Prevention of HIV/ AIDS among  “Persons Who Inject Drugs” at Guwahati.
  • Rehabilitation of Commercial Sex Workers.
  • Prevention of HIV/ among Transport Workers in Assam and Tripura.  
  • Composite project for prevention of HIV/AIDS among Female Sex Workers and Migrant labor.
  • Capacity enhancement training program for staff working in IDU (TI) projects of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
  • State Training and Resource Centre on HIV/AIDS in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Care for elderly persons.
  • Education on Road Safety Measures.
  • Combat human trafficking in Kamrup and Nalbari districts of Assam supported by UNIFEM.
  • Health Camps for Nutrition/ Anemia Prevention camp for women and adolescents.
  • Rural Development – Village Level Workshop for Women Empowerment.
  • Adolescent Counseling.
  • Family Counseling. 
  • Shelter Home for the survivors of human trafficking “Ujjawala” supported by the Ministry of Women and Child Development,   Government of India.
  • Shelter home for destitute women and their children.“Swadhar” supported by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
  • Health care targeting women and adolescent girls.
  • Awareness generation program against alcohol and substance abuse.
  • Combat trafficking of children for commercial sexual exploitation in Assam under the aegis of Project “Mukti” supported by ECPAT-Luxembourg.
  • Awareness programs in schools of Assam to prevent Child Sexual Abuse under project “Mukti”.
  • Training police and “Anti Human Traffic Unit” of Assam to combat human trafficking under project “Mukti”.
